From applied cryptography to mobile computing, Computer Science will help you develop strong algorithm analysis and design skills in procedural, object-oriented and low-level languages.

Our Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science program provides the hands-on experience that is key to understanding computing fundamentals with an optional introduction to functional, parallel and logical paradigms.

Program Highlights

  • co-op-icon.jpgCo-op is available (apply after first year).
  • You can apply for the Professional Experience Program, which consists of a 12- to 16-month work term between your third and fourth years. Sample jobs include technical support analyst and product support analyst.
  • The iPhone Application Programming course ends with the presentation of apps to judges including representatives from Apple, the awarding of prizes, and the opportunity to meet representatives from local startups.
  • You will have opportunities to get involved in faculty research projects, whether for course credit or pay.
  • Take this program in combination with Mathematics and gain useful skills in scientific and financial computing, which can be used in areas such as pharmaceutical design, image processing, financial analysis and genomics.

Admission Requirements

We encourage applicants of all academic backgrounds to apply.

Ontario High School Curriculum

  • Minimum admission range: high 70s.
  • Competitive admission range, based on last year’s admitted students: mid 80s.
  • English at 60%.
  • Advanced Functions at 60%.
  • One of Calculus & Vectors, Chemistry or Physics at 60%.
  • Computer Science and Mathematics requires English, Advanced Functions, and Calculus & Vectors at 60%, and one of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics at 60%.
  • Computer Science and Psychology requires English and Advanced Functions at 60%, and one of Calculus & Vectors, Chemistry, Physics, or Biology at 60%.
  • All prerequisite courses calculated in admission average.
