The Faculty of Music at Wilfrid Laurier University offers a range of spaces for performances, classes, and community events. From intimate gatherings to large concerts, our venues provide the flexibility you need. Both external community groups and Laurier groups are welcome to request rentals.

Theatre Auditorium

Located along Mid Campus Drive between the Savvas Chamberlain Music Building and the campus Quad, the Theatre Auditorium is one of Laurier’s largest performance spaces.

  • Seating Capacity: 300–500 (up to 1,000 for standing-room events)

  • Uses: Concerts, workshops, and events hosted by the Faculty of Music, campus clubs and community renters

Maureen Forrester Recital Hall

Our flagship venue, the Maureen Forrester Recital Hall, is known for its warm acoustics and intimate concert experience.

  • Seating Capacity: Up to 320
  • Features: State-of-the-art audio/visual systems
  • Uses: Faculty of Music concerts (including the Noon Hour Series), lectures, classes and community events

The Mezz

Attached to the Recital Hall, The Mezz is both a welcoming lobby and a flexible performance space with its own small stage.

  • Capacity: 50 for concerts, 100 for receptions or cocktail events

Classrooms & Rehearsal Spaces

In addition to our performance venues, individual classrooms and rehearsal spaces within the Faculty of Music are also available for rent. These rooms are ideal for workshops, meetings, small group rehearsals and teaching sessions.

Additional Policies & Requirements

To ensure a safe and professional event experience, the following policies apply to all rentals:

  • Staffing
    All staffing is arranged, per contract, at the discretion of the Director of Production, and is subject to the Employment Standards Act, the IATSE Collective Agreement and Faculty of Music policies.

  • Insurance & Documentation
    Clients must provide documentation of registered charitable or non-profit corporate status, along with proof of a minimum of $2 million liability insurance, to the Director of Production.

  • Food & Catering Food service must be arranged through Laurier Food Services and approved in advance. An extra cleaning fee may apply. Concessions may be permitted if items are commercially packaged—contact the Director of Production for details.
