Academic, Creative and Engaged Research Showcase (ACERS)

The Academic, Creative and Engaged Research Showcase (ACERS) at Laurier Brantford recognizes student and faculty research, showcases creative projects by our students, and provides learning experiences for the general public and for the Laurier community.

Bridges Undergraduate Journal

Bridges: An Undergraduate Journal of Contemporary Connections is an online, free access journal that publishes top quality essays and reviews by Laurier undergraduate students. With around 1,300 downloads over the past year, and nearly 4,000 downloads overall, Bridges offers students a chance to share their work across Canada and around the world. It also offers them an opportunity to gain valuable academic publishing experience.

Students can get involved as writers, peer-reviewers and/or editors of the journal. Writers submit essays, research papers or book reviews through the journal's website at any time throughout the year. Essays and research papers are then sent (anonymously) to a team of student reviewers who, following the typical academic peer-reviewed process, recommend that the student's work be published without revision, revised and then published or rejected. A team of student editors oversee the entire process and take responsibility for the final editing and publication of all material.

To find out more about the journal and how you can get involved, visit the Bridges website or email Bruce Gillespie, journal faculty advisor or Christin Taylor, staff advisor.

Research Ambassadors

The Faculty of Liberal Arts recruits student research ambassadors who help promote and organize undergraduate research initiatives on campus. Working under the supervision of the coordinator of undergraduate research, research ambassadors give presentations and facilitate workshops on undergraduate research. Research ambassadors also assist in the planning and organization of Research Celebration Week and various undergraduate student conferences.

Participation as a research ambassador can be listed on your experience record.
