Welcome to Laurier's Open House! Whether this will be your first trip to campus, or you already know your way around our community, our Open House will give you a brand-new opportunity to experience what it FEELS like to be a Laurier student. Here’s how Open House can help you step into the shoes of a Golden Hawk to figure out if Laurier is the right fit for you: 

Get the Campus Community Vibe

Imagining yourself at a school is one thing but setting foot on a campus could really solidify whether this is the right university for you. Take a campus tour (led by a current student!) while you’re at Open House to get an in-depth look at, and feel for, the campus and surrounding neighbourhood.

Explore Residence

Understanding the physical layout and atmosphere of your potential new home will help you make a more informed decision. Be sure to take a tour of the differently-styled residence halls to get a glimpse of what living on campus could look like, and start to build a mental picture of what items you might buy or bring from home to make the space your own.

Attend an Interactive Academic Session

This time around, we want you to get the true first-year experience by participating in experiential program sessions. Whether it’s a lab tour, a mock lecture, a student concert, or a chat with Academic Advising, we want to ensure you feel confident that you know what to expect and how to engage from day one of first year.

Connect with Current Students

Want to find out what university is really like? Who better to hear from than current Golden Hawks themselves? You’ll have the chance to connect one-on-one with students from your program of interest to get all the answers to your questions about what university-level assignments are like, the best ways to organize your schedule, how to get resume-worthy experience, how to make friends, and so much more.  

Speak with your Future Professors

Besides the chance to speak with current students, Open House will give you an all-access pass to the people behind the programs – professors, instructors, academic advisors and other Laurier support staff who are all eager to help you do your best.

Talk to the Laurier Experts

From getting in, to settling in, to settling up your first university bill, we know you may have a lot of practical questions about the administrative side of university life. Be sure to attend one of our Admissions, Scholarships and/or Transition to University sessions so that you are better prepared for the fall.

Stay Connected

Keep the conversation going! An easy way to stay connected is through social media – Laurier has its own U Community Discord server where you can chat with student ambassadors about their own Laurier experience and make friends with other hopeful applicants.

By living the first-year experience, participating in experiential learning opportunities, attending interactive academic sessions and connecting with current students and faculty, you’ll feel prepared to make an informed decision about your future.

A university Open House is an experience unlike any other – hundreds of faculty, staff and current students are on-campus ready to make you feel welcomed.
