Meet LaToya Webb, a Assistant Professor and Wind Orchestra Director with a Passion for Diversity and Inclusion

LaToya Webb is an assistant professor of Music and the director of the Laurier Wind Orchestra at Wilfrid Laurier University. She joined the Faculty of Music in 2021, bringing with her a wealth of experience and expertise in conducting, teaching, and research.

Webb grew up in Richmond, Virginia, where she discovered her love for music and band. She pursued her education at Norfolk State University, George Mason University, and Auburn University, earning degrees in music education and conducting. She also taught at various levels, from public schools to universities, in Virginia, Washington, D.C., Texas, Alabama, and Louisiana.

Webb is an internationally recognized educator and conductor, who has presented, published, and performed at numerous events and venues. She has received several prestigious fellowships and awards for her excellence and leadership in the field of music. She is also actively involved in several professional organizations and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in music education and performance.

Webb is thrilled to be part of the Laurier community and Faculty of Music, where she shares her passion and vision with students, colleagues, and audiences. She believes that music is a powerful tool for social change and empowerment, and that everyone has a unique story and contribution to make.
