The main focus of my research is urban food security in Africa. Rapid urbanization is transforming food systems across Africa with important implications for feeding growing populations of urban poor who rely on cash economies while experiencing informal employment and precarious housing.

I am particularly interested in the nexus between urban food security with sustainable development, migration, gender, and governance, and the multi-level policy environments supporting anti-poverty measures.

My research has thus far centred on the case of Uganda, but currently I am exploring the policy environments around urban food security and migration in Kenya and Tanzania.
