Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Print | PDFWilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus just got greener.
Bike-share stations and smart bikes are now located across campus as part of a pilot project in Waterloo Region that aims to provide residents and visitors with active transportation options. Laurier is one of six community partners included in the bike-share program developed by micro-mobility provider Drop Mobility.
Bike-share stations and bikes can be found at Willison Hall and Leupold Residence, the Athletic Complex, Mid-Campus Drive (off University Avenue), the Science Building along Bricker Avenue and the Schlegel Building. Bikes can be located, paid for, unlocked and secured at any of the project’s 100 bike-share stations across Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge through the Drop Mobility app, available from the App Store and Google Play. T
he bike-share network makes using green transportation affordable, with bikes available for $1 per hour or $15 per month.
Prospective users can have a look at the rent-and-ride process on the Laurier Sustainability Office Instagram account.
"We're excited to be part of the region’s bike-share network and promote the use of active transportation at Laurier,” says Stephanie MacPhee, manager of Laurier’s Sustainability Office. “The program offers a sustainable and convenient option for personal travel and contributes to an integrated transportation system in our community.”
MacPhee says additional bike-share stations and bikes will be added to Laurier’s Waterloo campus during the second phase of the project, which rolls out this fall.
